New Year, Same God

Happy New Year from FSG! New years always bring new goals, new aspirations, and the hope of a fresh start. I was setting goals for 2026 the other day when the Lord checked my heart. How many of our goals are actually from the Lord? How many of them actually align with God’s will for our lives? I was so quick to set goals that fit into my plans, my will, my desires, but I didn’t even ask Him if He wanted any of it for me.

Proverbs 19:21 says, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Are you willing to surrender your dreams, your goals, and your plans to the Lord and let Him guide your steps?

It’s easy to get caught up in the “new year, new me” way of life around this time of year. The truth is, I woke up this morning as the same person I was when I went to sleep, and I’m sure you did, too. The changing of the calendar can’t bring about transformation. Only Jesus can transform us from the inside out. Only through an intimate relationship with Him can we be “made new.” Thankfully, though, the Lord has remained the same as well. God still is who He’s always been. He’s still good. He’s still sovereign. He’s still trustworthy. He’s still everything we need. No matter what this year brings, we can walk in the confidence that God is still our God, and we are still His people.

Praying this new year would bring you all to new heights and depths with the Lord, and that you would obey His every word!!
