Discovering Relationship

My life changed when I learned what it really meant to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. I grew up in a decent Christian community, with parents who love the Lord and have Him at the center of their marriage, and yet somehow growing up, I missed it. Somehow, without even knowing it, I put God in a box. I had created a box for Him that limited my belief in how He could move, how He could speak.  I grew up going to church every Sunday, memorized bible verses, sang the song

The Cycle of Sin

Over the past couple years, the Lord has taught me about this thing called "sin patterns" in my life. Sin patterns are like habits of sinful behaviors that you just can't seem to break. God has convicted me and changed me from the inside out, but it was definitely a process. That process began when I sat down, exhausted and fed up with all of my helpless attempts to solve the problem (sin), and said "Lord, I need you. I can't do it anymore. You have to help me." It was then t

Remember Calvary

Life so often becomes a task and results in us getting discouraged. Often times I think about how many times I complain in a day and how many times I hear complaints? How would life sound if the cries of complaints turned into complete gratitude? It would surely sound completely ratified. How do we reach this ratified lifestyle? We remember Calvary. We remember the Perfect One who left Heaven to die for me. We remember the 39 stripes across His back, the holes in His hands an

The Art of Suffering

At the end of every year, I ask the Lord to give me a word for the following year that He wants me to hold onto. A word that He wants to teach me about and grow me in. This year, He gave me imitate, and He’s taught me so much. One of the biggest things He’s taught me is that suffering like Christ makes me look more like Him. Over the last year, there've been a lot of trials and hardships I’ve walked through. Friends have let me down. I’ve felt unloved. I’ve been rejected. I’v

By Love Itself

Love comes in all forms throughout our lives. We might experience the love of a parent, a friend, a significant other, or maybe the love of a pet. We base our lives around the things we love and around those who love us because it is important for us as humans to be a part of something greater than ourselves. In addition to the love we feel from a parent or friend, we have a God who is constantly showing his love for us.  As a kid, I remember going through Sunday school and
